Why this page was set-up

This webpage is a tribute to a favourite band of mine, the Corrs. This is a Singapore-based website. If you are interested in the latest happenings of the Corrs around the world and in Singapore, feel free to roam around here. This gorgeous family of four is absolutely talented and fantastic, each mastering at least a musical instrument. With Jim on keyboard and guitar, Sharon on violin, Caroline on drums and Andrea on tin whistle, their music is a special blend of traditional Irish music with modern pop.

How the Corrs came about

Three sisters and a brother, the Corrs are from Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. They came together as a group to audition for the Alan Parker movie, The Commitments, gaining in the process their manager John Hughes.

While playing shows in Dublin, a chance meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Jean Kennedy Smith led to a concert in Boston playing at the John F. Kennedy Library. On their last day in the U.S. they were recommended to producer David Foster by Jason Flom of Atlantic Records. Unable to get an appointment with Foster, the walked down New York's blazing hot 5th Avenue to wait at the Hit Factory studio, unannouced. They met him and the next day they were signed to Atlantic Records.

Their debut album 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten' appeared in September 1995, and the Corrs have performed it in the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, with more to come.

The result has been multi-platinum sales, boosted by the release in 1997 of the second album 'Talk On Corners'. The albums are certified gold or platinum in many countries and 'Talk On Corners' is the top selling album in Singapore for the year 1998/1999. It stayed at the No. 1 spot for the longest run and album sales was terrific.

Following the phenomenal success of the previous two album, 'Unplugged' did equally well, with multi-platinum sales in many countries.
